One of the first things an artist learns is how to create different values (shades and tints) of color.  One of the first things children learn are the values (beliefs) their parents or caretakers hold dear.  In Nebraska we are thought of as part of the Heartland, and many of our values are universal and well-instilled in us.  From the days of the pioneers, to the farmers, to the CEO’s of today, we believe in hard work, helping others, and appreciating what we have.  The base of this design celebrates several of the values I believe are represented in the Heartland.  The heart portion illustrates an artist’s value scales, which overlap and interact in a way that mirrors the way we strive to interact with one another, in harmony.
